An exciting British owned after school teaching institute based in Shanghai, China with a primary focus on reading and writing comprehension for students of advanced ability. Offering the finest course material, student assessments and feedback. Classes are small (no more than 6 students a class), catering to the high level allowing better student and teacher energetic engagement. This may be an entry level role and experience is not required. Rather, preference shall be given to passionate teachers willing to learn, adapt to training and grow with the company. This is a friendly, outgoing environment offering a unique opportunity in the heart of Shanghai!.
There are three beautiful campuses; two in Pudong and one in Qingpu. Salaries can range from 20k to 30k per month depending on experience. The age of students range from 5-12 years old with a focus on reading and writing. The curriculum fully developed in house by specialist qualified teachers. Full training shall be given on arrival.
Details
- Current positions are in Shanghai and Qinqpu (Shanghai Metro line 17) and Pudong
- Year round but at semester start dates (march, may, September etc) apply at least 3 months in advance to be eligible if based outside China.
- Full and part time positions available
- 20 - 30k per month after tax, depending on experience ($2,880 - $4,300)
- Mid year target based appraisal
- Two consecutive days off in the week
- Two weeks paid holiday in Summer and one week off at Christmas or CNY, totaling to 17 paid days

- Up to six in a class, teaching phonics, reading and writing. Maximum 24 teaching hours in a week.

Responsibilities
- We have already created all of our lesson plans. We want our teachers to improve on these lesson plans by creating a game, activity or power point to excel the lesson further and create a memorable learning experience.
- Grading student homework, projects and tests is essential to our student feedback.
- Ensure there is a bright, exciting classroom interior.
- Encourage all students in their reading and writing ability providing extra materials to help with their ongoing learning where needed.
- Write student assessments twice a term and give oral feedback to study advisers and parents.
- Record, observe and evaluate academic process.
- Adapt the provided lesson plans and books appropriately to cater to your classes in advance.
Requirements
- One year plus experience preferred, but not strictly necessary, as full training is always given.
- Comfortable teaching different ages from 5 to 12 years old.
- A high standard of English speaking and writing skills.
- Minimum Bachelor's degree and TEFL or equivalent.
- Suitable candidates are from native English countries such as the UK, USA, NZ, Australia, South Africa, Ireland and Canada
